Women in Art Retreat
Inspired by a book by Rachel Igntfsky
Wonderfully illustrated and informative, this book highlights 50 fearless female creatives who inspired the world. From architecture, photography, art and fashion, this book spotlights many influential females who made an impact on the world as we know it today. Many had to overcome hardships to follow their passion. Let’s learn more about them.
Who will enjoy this retreat? Anyone inspired by creatives, the budding artist in all of us. While the breadth of this book lends itself to multiple retreats, this first one will focus on four women whose featured work is in a few particular creative fields, for example fashion, collage or pottery.
What will participants do? Select 4 artists to learn more about during the retreat. Create and share a “show” with photographs of them during their lives and examples of their craft. Each artist will be discussed and participants will engage in a hands-on art project inspired by the style of the artist.
“Through history, there’s also a lesson for the future. Women putting their hands out and helping other women, lifting other women up who are coming up after them. It’s so important and you see that happening time and time again throughout history,” says author Ignotofsky. “It’s women creating a better world for the next generation in the arts.”
